YouTube is an online video streaming service where anyone with access to the internet can view or provide videos. It was first created in February 2005 and is now hugely popular with over 100 million video views a day and ranking as on of the most visited websites after Google.

Youtube allows you to watch videos almost about anything. It is very easy to search for any topic. I started using youtube few years ago to watch for music videos and I found it helpful for entertaining people. The wide range of videos available is vast and I have never had an occasion where I haven't been able to find what I am looking for. I have found it useful for a topic that I am not totally clear on, I can search it on youtube to understand it more clearly. Youtube has many advantages and it also proves to have certain disadvantages as well. The different advantages and disadvantages of youtube are stated below.
Advantages:

v You can watch educational video clips.
v Enables you to also view film clips.
v You can download and upload videos.
v It is fast, accessible, great search facility, wide range of videos.
v It is a great site to share music videos, or showcase your talents.
v Good help resources.
v Great to use for research.
v A brilliant teaching tool as the videos play well on interactive whiteboards and are short clips.

Disadvantages:

v Accessible to anyone.
v People can post videos of you that the world may not want you to see.
v Privacy issues.
v Some users can be abusive.
v Stalking is possible.
v Inappropriate content.

Living today in the technology age, people are really into it. Many of us use the internet to find about anything because it is the fastest and easiest way to get the information that you want to get. Youtube is one of the sites that I personally used for entertainment and education purposes. I watch videos in youtube that makes me understand deeper into a certain topic. Youtube users have many reasons to visit the site and there are some videos also that are not appropriate for the site beause it is accessible to someone and you can upload any videos of yourself and others. Some users upload videos that are bad.


Using this websites are useful at some point but a user should remember to use it appropriately. Everyone who uses it should be responsible of themselves and should know what is right from wrong. They must only watch videos that come from a reliable source because not all informations and videos that you can view are true. One should not always rely on online sources. To conclude I would recommended Youtube to everyone who would wish to view the most diverse multimedia collection on the web and for those who want to learn new things.
